society in to murder Mr Field. The same pring but a lot smaller also

THE ILLUSTRATED LONDON NEWS
Saturday July 14 1883
The front cover graphically illustrates the Ship launch
disaster at Glasgow. The six prints show the wreck of the Daphne
on its side, the river police assisting to remove the dead, a small boat
warning passing vessels of the wreck, the starboard anchor that was used
in the launch, the port side anchor again used in the launch and in the
centre is a print of a diver preparing to descend to the hull of the Daphne.

The full page cover photograph shows a German Neufeldt
and Kuhnke atmospheric suit that the British Admiralty used to help in
the salvage work of the lost M1 Submarine. Inside the magazine, there
is a full page explanation of how the suit works which also includes a
large "cutaway" drawing looking inside. [pt] |

The front page of this magazine has 4 prints depiting
the work following the tragic event of the collapse of the Tay Bridge and
loss of a railway train into the freezing Tay river. Top picture
shows the decent of the diver, second divers working from a steam launch,
then Tugs bringing in divers and finally an inspection from a steam boat.

The composite cover picture shows HMS Victory in dry dock with a diver
being dressed in the foreground, the dock had been flooded and he was about

THE SUNDAY TIMES MAGAZINE
15 September 1963
This magazine was given (and still is) as a free suppliment
to the main Sunday newspaper in the UK. The front cover picture shows
Jacques Cousteau and another diver peering in through a window. The
suppliment contains an article called "The House That Jacques Built" or
"Living in Cousteau Country" which covers the divers living on the seabed
of the Red Sea, at Shaab Rummi around 20 miles from Port Sudan. The
article is 10 pages long and is very well illustrated with photographs
(some in colour) and diagrams. [pt]
